My Lived Experience

For 11 years, my waking mental diet was an absolute diet of terror. I was existing in a state of perpetual adrenal fatigue, and my inner conversations were entirely dominated by expecting the worst case scenario. I would walk around my own home stuck in fear loops, constantly thinking my abuser was going to find me and kill my family, or wishing I would just get news of his passing so I could finally feel free. Even after I escaped and moved to Mexico, my mental diet was still tethered to that trauma. My physical body was free, but my mind was trapped, which ultimately manifested as my full mental breakdown and the feeling of excruciating electrical currents coursing through my veins.

To reclaim my power and heal my nervous system, I had to completely overhaul my mental diet. Through my studies in NLP, Somatic Therapy, and shadow work, I learned how to observe the traumatized parts of myself without letting them drive the vehicle. When the chaotic, panic inducing thoughts arose, I stopped aggressively fighting them. Fighting only made the anxiety worse. Instead, I gently redirected my awareness. I traded my coffee addiction for morning lymph flow to physically calm my body, and I actively pruned away the paranoid internal chatter. I replaced my mental diet of depression and anxiety with thoughts of peaceful joy, starving the old identity of the victim and nurturing the undeniable presence of the sovereign, clear, and focused Manifestor I am today.
